Gold Coast: Sirromet Winery

One of the highlights of our Gold Coast trip has got to be the winery tour and tasting at Sirromet. But no, I’m not a wine drinker. In fact, I find myself frowning in disgust every time I have a sip. Boo! I can never be an atas people or even try acting as one. I just don’t know how to appreciate wine and totally not a fan of any alcoholic beverages. I only drink on some special occasion when I’m in a jolly spirit and when I’m at places that only serve boozy liquids. And when I want to act cool. I consider myself as a dummy social drinker who has zero knowledge about wine and beer. But we are never too old to learn! I saw this winery tour while I was doing research for our Gold Coast trip and I knew right away that Chris would love it!

The tour began with a brief explanatory about the winery background and history by our tour guide, followed by a tour inside their production factory. I was listening very carefully like a student, trying to catch every word the tour guide said because she spoke a little too fast. Or perhaps my English understanding is very low -_-... The entire tour took less than 45 minutes. And now, aha! The best part of the tour – wine tasting! We get to try about 7-8 types of wine. The tour lady opened up a new bottle of wine sequentially, from light to stronger flavour for us to try while briefly describing some facts about each wine.

Love this picture very much.

Of all the wine we tasted, LOVE MY SWEET SPARKLING ROSÉ is “my glass of wine”. Well, not hard to guess – it’s a very light tasting sparkling wine with a hint of sweetness and most of all, it’s pink in colour! A very romantic-ish wine! In fact, I heard this wine is pretty popular for wedding banquet. Towards the end of wine tasting, I was feeling giddy…for the first time ever in my life! My body felt light, vision was a little blurry, I had a light blush on my face… Actually I kind of miss my giddiness moment. I looked pretty, blush-y and happy! Lol!

The greenish surrounding at Sirromet is so soothing for the eyes and great for photography too. It’s a very ideal venue for wedding ceremony or celebration of any sort.

Sitting on the green grass, looking at the picturesque view of blue sky and mountains in front of me while breathing in the fresh green air.. I felt so thankful. Thankful that I able to see this beautiful view with my own eyes, thankful that I can be here, thankful that I have the opportunity experience different culture… I’m so blessed :)

Gold Coast: Whale Watch

June to October is the best time to go whale watching. Since we were going on the month of August, we grabbed this opportunity to add whale watching into our lifetime experience. Although I must say, the price for this experience doesn’t come cheap. We took the combo ticket which includes the whale watch and one time entry to Sea World.

We were strongly advised to take the sea sickness pills to prevent us from getting, well, sea sickness as wind was pretty strong that morning. And hell, I was so regret! That stupid pill caused me extreme drowsiness for the entire day! I think even the real sea sickness wouldn’t be that bad. We need to be really concentrated and focused because the whales might leap up the surface anytime but my eyes were so heavy! I tried so hard to stay awake because I didn’t want to miss a single thing!

During the 3 hours cruise, we managed to watch a couple of whale’s movements which they termed it as “the blow”, “tail slap”, “tail lifts” and “breach”. A lucky day for us indeed :) But sadly, the drowsiness ruined my whale watching experience a little :(

The cruise terminal is located beside Sea World. So right after the whale watch, we entered to the Sea World since we were there already. But my memories about Sea World were all blurry as I was drowsy, drowsy, drowsy all the way…. @@ My knees were so weak, I swear I could sleep on the floor or anywhere I don’t care! What left in my brain was the picture of the happy dolphin face, the handsome jet stunt performers and … fish and chips?

Gold Coast!

What are the first 5 words that come across your mind when you hear Gold Coast?

My answer is - sun, sea, sand, beach and bikini.

The 5 words spell S.U.M.M.E.R H.O.L.I.D.A.Y! But instead of summer, we opted to experience the winter in Gold Coast. Reason is simple – because we get to experience summer all year long in Malaysia. Haha!

But if you are a hard-core beach bum, I’d say summer is definitely the best season to visit Gold Coast. In fact, I wished it was summer during our visit there because their beaches are so amazingly gorgeous! Crisp blue water, soft sandy beach… a good opportunity to flaunt your bikini and abs! :D Well actually you can still swim and hangout by the beach in your skimpy bikini during winter as the temperature in the afternoon is pretty comfortable. Around… 21 Celsius? And it’s pretty sunny too.

But for us Asian or rather, Malaysian, it might still be a little bit cold for us to go out in a two-piece. Speaking of that, we looked silly walking down the street in our thick jacket and jeans while the locals there were in their sleeveless tops and shorts! From what I experienced, the weather in Gold Coast during August (end of winter) is:

Morning – cold

Afternoon – warmer and sunny with strong wind

Night – very cold. Even colder when the wind blows.
Brrrr… 4 seasons in one day, as they called it.

I’m amazed at the fact that they can still preserve the most beautiful side of their beaches when they have millions of tourists flocking in every year. There is surely a reason why it is one of the best holiday destinations in the world :)

Surprise Bel!

“The pump you brought is not working!”

“F*ck, why these balloons are so hard to blow??”

“Ok stop laughing! Keep blowing!”

“This is my first blow job ever!”

“My brain is out of oxygen…(panting)”

These were the scenarios during the setting up progress! Lol!

Nothing fancy though, just some balloons on the floor and a cake.

Looking at the Bel’s surprised and teary face, it was all so worth it! Oh yes, that silly girl cried the moment she entered the room and saw the cake with 29 candles lighted on it :)

….or maybe she cried because she was thinking “WTF? After all these years, all I got was a cake and some lousy balloons. The balloons somemore cannot float in the air one!”

Lol! But I’m pretty sure she was genuinely touched and happy, and it was rather out of her expectation because her actual birthday was 3 weeks ago.

We love you Bel! Many hugs!
